Stop at our booth to learn more about ella health and what we are doing to encourage women to get mammograms, detect breast cancer at its earliest stages and provide education on self-breast exams.

First up is the PA Breast Cancer Coalition annual conference at the Hilton Harrisburg on Oct. 9, which is expected to draw about 1,000 people. This inspirational and educational event is devoted entirely to raising breast cancer awareness and providing education. For those living with cancer, there are workshops on things such as nutrition and dealing with work. There are also seminars about emerging treatments in breast cancer and advances in early detection. It’s a great day to come together and support each other.

On October 20th, we’ll join the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Harrisburg. The very first Making Strides walks were held 20 years ago and since then, millions of dollars have been raised to support breast cancer research, education, advocacy, patient services and community partnership grants. Expect to see a lot of pink at this event, which honors and celebrates breast cancer survivors while helping to educate women about prevention and early detection. The walk starts at 8:30 a.m. at City Island. We’ll have a booth at the finish line. On-line registration is open until October 20th at noon. Walkers can still register on the day of the event.

Runners are already in training for the Nov. 11 Harrisburg Marathon and Relay, sponsored by the YMCA. Nearly 1,100 participants are expected for the walk, run and relay event. Walkers start at 6:30 am, and the run kicks off at 8:30 am. Everyone leaves from and comes back to City Island. It’s a beautiful route and a fun day for participants and spectators with plenty of food, games, music and a massage area for runners. The deadline for on-line registration is November 7. Whether you are walking, running, or relaying, we’ll be there to greet you at the end.
