Breast Cancer Awareness month is here and that means a sea of pink as we find ways to support breast cancer patients and survivors while fighting this disease. Of course it is important to be aware of and fight breast cancer all year long, but having this dedicated time can generate intensive energy to push this important cause.
We want to encourage you in your efforts, whether you are running, walking or buying hair extensions to raise funds. Every bit matters. The women in our lives who are facing breast cancer need our love and support. And, every day researchers are making progress in finding better treatments because of your generosity.
Throughout October, we will be in the community helping to raise funds for breast cancer research and letting women know why mammograms are so important. It’s about empowering women to take care of themselves so they can take care of everyone else.
The American Cancer Society recommends that women get a screening mammogram every year starting at age 40. It’s important to know that you don’t need a prescription and insurance companies and Medicare will cover this important exam.
We got an early start on the month with the Laurita Winery Vines of Life Walk for the Cure on Sunday. We want to congratulate all the participants.
Like you, we enjoyed the refreshing weather and the live music, but more than anything, we appreciated meeting you and hearing your stories.
