Ann Burnett worked in the welfare department for 34 years before retiring. Now, she does whatever she wants to.Ann Burnett

“If I get up in the morning and I don’t feel like doing anything, I don’t,” said Ann, who lives in Fairview Township, PA. “If I feel like sitting and watching the birds, that’s what I do.”

She also spends time in her garden, reads, travels and works out regularly.

“You want to stay healthy so you can enjoy life,” Ann explained.

This includes getting an annual mammogram.

“To me, it’s just the smart thing to do,” she said. “I don’t have a family history of breast cancer, but then none of the women I’ve known who have had cancer had it in their family.”

This year she came to ella health for her mammogram because the center was conveniently located in the same building as her doctor’s office. She said she’ll come back again because of her experience.

“It was such a pleasant atmosphere,” she said. “I don’t have anxiety, but I think if someone did, this would make a difference.”

She forgot that she wasn’t supposed to wear deodorant before the exam, but that was no problem. The staff warmed up a wet towel for her to use.

“It’s those little things that really make a difference,” she said. “Overall, it was just very calming.”
